Does HC normally look like this after trimming?

My HC in my 20g long started getting pretty thick so I trimmed it last week on Monday the 10th. Considering how fast it grew in initially, I'm having a hard time convincing myself this is normal. Small patches are growing back quickly, but other patches are showing little growth. Some of the leaves as you can see just look crappy. The tank is high light/high co2 and I'm dosing EI. Just look at my sig for any more info. Any help with this would be appreciated considering this is my first time keeping a full HC carpet. Thanks guys.
