Does HC grow upwards?

Hi,
I am looking at HC as my carpet plant. I have read that HC grows upwards when there is poor light. What I would like to know is if it will grow upwards once it has completely carpetted a tank?

I am planning a Iwagumi style tank and would like it to be as low maintenance as possible.

If the HC needs to be trimmed I may decide to go with Dwarf HG instead.

Thanks,
Alex

i haven't had experience with HC yet, but plan on using it in my next tank. I have the Dwarf HG currently and I would say if you want low maintenance with little trim, you're looking at the wrong plant. DHG grows relatively tall (3-4") and it grows quickly under good conditions.
Its gonna be hard for you to grow HC.
They need a good amount of lights and ferts
Mine did grow upward in a 4 gal nano w/ 13 wts of T-5's. Now that I have 48 wts, we'll see if that changes. I just ran a scissor across it to trim it back low..it was not hard to do. Just a snip & pick out the little floaties.:)
I'm planning a 4x2x2 tank so that would be a little harder to mow :D

I will be having CO2 and T5 lighting but I would wnat something which I don't have to trim regularly.
