Do you guys usually dip your plants before putting them in your tank? If so in what?

Potassium permanganate is great, of course I'm not using it for tissue culture plants, they don't need dipping in anything.
Nope, never dip in anything whatsoever.

Almost never.

Plants from other hobbyists I never dip. Plants that I gather from the wild I sometimes dip to kill snails and other creatures, but I only dip if the plants can't be visually cleaned by hand and have a lot of debris stuck to them or that came from a grungy pond/lake/river/etc.

There isn't much need to dip plants outside of these conditions because parasites and harmful microbes only do well if the fish they infect are weakened in some way. They very rarely infect perfectly healthy fish. Usually most people keep fish in fairly ideal conditions and so our fish aren't very vulnerable to infection. Over time any parasites die without a suitable host, and so our tanks "self sterilize" to an extent. This means when you trade plants with another hobbyist there aren't many things left that can hitch hike and harm your livestock.
I woulda said no but then I'm convinced that a recent ebay order of vals brought BBA that I uprooted and tossed....so for the future, I'm uncertain.
I think it's near impossible, no I'll say impossible to keep you tank sterile of spores, etc. that will cause algae. It's your conditions that bring it out. I never dip anything ever.

I don't dip plants scared of algae. I just don't want any bladder snails, any other is ok, but those are eating plants so a big no for them. For now - dipping in potassium permanganate works like charm (and I saw live bladder snails on plants before dipping once). It's not mandatory, but I like to keep plants clean of them.

The only time I have ever dipped plants is when I had disease outbreaks and I wanted to sterilize as much as possible. When my QT tank went down in flamed I bleach dipped my plants real quick. I don't bother when receiving plants from others though.

with bleach dipping I created a 5% bleach solution (bleach 1:19 water) and dipped my plants for 10 seconds in the mixture. then I rinsed my plants in a bucket of tapwater immediately after, then threw them in a bucket that was OD'd with a ton of PRIME to neutralize the bleach. Put them back in the QT tank once I set the whole thing back up and everything was fine.

You could certainly eliminate some, but point being you just can't eliminate everything. Snail eggs, etc can be in a drop of water that enters the tank from another source.
I never dip my plants any more, But I will check each leaf for snail eggs, or snails. and remove the eggs or the leaf altogether. But I never really worry about any parasites or anything. some times I will QT my plants if They have a ton of snail eggs and I will eradicate them over a few weeks. but it is only for snails. I absolutely hate Bladder snails. they won't eat plants unless the leaf is dead or dyeing. But I just hate them they are to me the only snail I want to make extinct. And I have a tone of MTS that I could care less if they over populate.
I don't dip, inspect, or rinse lol.
