Do I need to take out Purigen when dosing FenBen?

I googled and only saw references to taking out carbon.

Also, how do I take precautions for ammonia spike when the planaria die off?

I don't see any hydra now, but am assuming they are in the moss/on the plants/in the driftwood cave.

Should I put in some ammo reducing media for a week?

Purigen does have some of the same types of properties as carbon.
While it may not remove medication, it certainly may, so best to take it out for medicating purposes.

An ammonia spike shouldn't be likely, but test your water daily, and do a large wc, using Seachem Prime, if any ammonia presence materializes.

Thx for your insights!
Probably best to remove the purigen and as it may impact the effectiveness of treatment.
I doubt planaria have enough biomass to cause an ammonia spike. But taking purigen out at the same time, if bacteria have grown to rely on it, could.

Oh.

So add some bacteria Ina bottle before I take the Purigen out?

I have Seachem matrix media in my filter, too. Which I think is where a lot of the bacteria hang out. I had the Matix in ther for a month before I added the Purigen.
