Do I have what it takes?

I gave up fish a few years ago for dart frogs, but I have this 2.5g sitting around and I want to make it a little low tech planted tank. It will have 0 fish, and just plants.

So far I'm thinking, 100% clay kitty litter for the substrate... Do I NEED filtration and heater?

I will be building my own hood with a 13w (or 2) 6500k CFL for lighting.

I plan on just getting a little explosive forest going on in there.

I'm thinking:
Rotala rotundifolia
Anubias
Hygrophila difformis
Sagittaria subulata
Heteranthera zosterifolia

you might be ok, check the temperature tolerance of the plants listed. The Hygrophilia defformis aka Wisteria is a tank buster lol it will completely take over your tank in short order. I have to trim about 4" off its top every week in my 36 gal.
I doubt you need filtration and heater in a plant only tank, but correct me if I'm wrong.
Having flow is nice, check out the Hagen Elite Mini filter. It's submersible, internal, and small, easily hidden in a 2.5 especially since you're going to plant it densely.
I just want something like this, kitty litter + jungle vallisneria. How much light over a 2.5g?

I think flow is important. Maybe some anubias if you want to be lazy about it.
