Do I have enough room for 12 rasboras?

Either neon tetras or rasboras. My tank is 17g 24x12x14 but not much open space because of the scape. I know tetras will have enough room, what about rasboras? I have close to 100 cherry shrimp and 3 endlers, here's the tank..

I believe you'll be just fine. 12 Rasboras aren't much more of a bio-load than a dozen Neons. Go for it.
What kind of rasbora? There are dozens of rasboras, and some are 4 inch+ giants that need four foot tanks.
Yes, but I assumed it would be the most commonly available smaller varieties, like Harlequins or Copper (Espei) Rasboras, or even the micro varieties - like Boraras Maculatus, Merah, or Brigittae (Chili Rasboras) - which are quite small and would be even less of a bio-load than Neons. Check them out.
Chili Rasboras, only get to about 20mm (3/4"). You could fit a dozen in that tank. Be mindful of you filter. A strong intake can pull in unaware chilis.
Sounds good. I'm interested in harlequin as they're hardy, just need to find the healthy ones.
Harlequins are middle and top swimmers, and they're happiest with with plants around, so your scape won't really limit them much. The size of your tank might, if your livebearers are a mix of male/female and breeding ... or if you add otos or other cleaning-crew fish. Maybe try 9 harlies and see how you like it? (They are great fish. I have 9 in a 29g and may go to 12, depending on what other tankmates I decide on.)
Yeah I got 6 harlequin, and I think I have females, one is rubbing her underbelly upside down on the driftwood and the usual mating dance. I red they need specific water conditions to breed, mine isn't excatly that. I'm taking some plants out to open up the tank a little to give them more room. I'm also planning to get neon tetras for bottom swimmers.
weren't you looking into CPDs? they'd look great in that setup

Yeah but I couldn't find any. I tried one of the sponsors but they were out. My daughters been bugging me for fish. I have 3 male Endlers, was going to get female ones but I may not be able to handle the babies.

well, I don't know how your local PetCo is, but i'm lucky enough to have a pretty good one near me. They're able to order CPDs or Galaxy Rasboras as they call them. I've had 2/12 die, but the others are pretty healthy. Just an idea?

There are couple of petcos in my area, I'll ask them if they can do that.
I would say no to harlequin rasboras. I have 8 in my 15 gallon with a gourami and plants and it looks pretty full. They get way bigger than you think. In the fish store they look cute and small, but they will get an inch or two and fat!

I already bought six, I guess that's would be the limit for them.
I've had 6 Harlequins in a tank for over 2 years now, and the largest one has only grown to approx. 1.25"

I just got 10 Harlequin's for my 75g and love them. I was specifically looking for a colorful fish that I could have a bigger school of in an already busy tank that would stay towards the top of the water. They have been awesome on all counts.

Those aren't harlequin rasboras they look like tetras to me.
I ended up getting six, they're great and yeah, they can eat. Now I'm deciding to get 6 other schooling fish to occupy the bottom.
Is this the tank your baby guppies are in? Are you planning to tear apart the whole tank to remove the babies before they come to breeding age?

Yes, the tank also has neons & ember tetras in it - the harlequins just weren't present in the photos I took of the tank (they like to 'play' behind the driftwood).

You can spot 2 of the harlequins in pics #1 & #6.
