I have a gbr pair that I may introduce to this tank but im still unsure. My second thought was shrimp but that wouldnt work out well with excel/metricide.

They'll handle excel well, you just have to be careful not to overdose too much of it when using it.

So my stocking options are going to include some mix of the following.... amano shrimp, red cherry shrimp, neon tetras, gbr pair, nerites. What combination would you guys think would be a good mix?

The shrimp will end up been expensive food for the rams and neons. Some people claim to have luck with them, but from personal attempts at keeping both I always lost the shrimp.

I would say pick fish or shrimp, but if you want mix do then amanos and fish should work best.

A. Gbr pair, otos, nerites
B. Neons, amanos, otos, nerites
C. Amanos, Rcs, otos, nerites

Now just have to pick from these choices and how many I want. Such a hard decision

Asu1776's tank, "Trident" has cherry shrimp with neon tetras. The thing is, you just need a lot of cover is all.

I wouldn't do the GBR pair. The tank is too small for them.

Filter is a sunsun 106gph canister. Heater isnt needed until winter but ill probably get an inline hydor.

Please do a shrimp and snail community tank (option c).
Fish are great too, but I absolutely love how shrimp behave with their own kind:it's fascinating to watch tiny juvies scuttle around the tank.

I need to upload a video of my 20L during feeding...you wouldn't believe how comfortable they are with me poking around lol

Shrimp will become a real addiction. I know when I made the leap to shrimp only tank I ended up giving away all my fish in other tanks to make room for more shrimp lol.

How did you de-rim the tank. I just got a 10 gallon on craigslist on Im planning to remove the rim but I'm not sure how hard or easy it is? Did you use any tools?
