I don't want to have to keep doing that all day. That's why I'm curious to know how long one two liter of carbonated water or soda would last.

I tried it before and it does last quite a while. But the thing for me was that it was cheap source of suger namely HFC. I remember doing lab test before where yeast can metabloize furcose although at a slower rate than sucrose. So i added yeast to the soda.

But im not sure if it was the yeast of the co2 already in the soda. So I want to try next time with flat soda.

In either case it lasted a while

Like, a fresh two liter of cola?! What a waste of perfectly good cola!!
Indeed; it is a perfectly good waste of soda!

Why would you want to pay more for the soda as well? Just using plain sucrose is better.

Well, to decide if its a waste we would have to know how long it lasts. And I can get a two liter of club soda for .78 cents. I wouldn't mind paying .78 cents every two weeks, but the real reason I did it is because the 2 liter I was using ceased to be airtight and I got frustrated so I just grabbed a 7up I had and just hooked it up. At first it let out a ridiculous amount of co2 so I was getting worried. Now it is letting the same amount of co2 than a fresh yeast mix. I'm curious to see if it will last a couple weeks.

So, let me get this straight.

You are just hooking up a regular 2 litre bottle of 7 up (or other carbonated soda) to your CO2 line and seeing how long it will provide CO2?

Or did you add yeast to the soda as well?

My mistake, I didn't mean to say sucrose, I ment glucose. Bread yeast can metabolize glucose faster and better than fructose. So I wanted to give it a go.
Table sugar is sucrose which is a combination of fructose and glucose.

And as I have said it was just experimental. I didn't use coke or any name brand thing. But some cheap soda that was for 85 cents at 2 L. But further test must be done to see if it really can metabolize soda. It was really a half ass attempt to try it. Just added yeast out of curiosity and cannot completely say that it works. Although if it does work, it is far cheaper to buy HFC powder or syrup and just mix it with water instead of table sugar.

In either case after trying to work with DIY Co2, its far better to just go pressurized. Can save a lot of time and aggravation.

Best of luck in your co2 adventure.

Well, it slowed down dramatically after about 36 hours; I then added yeast and I had to rush the 2liter to the sink! LOL, well after the foam went down I've had a nice solid flow of co2 for about 24 hours. I'm expecting this to continue for at least another week. Won't be doing this again but it was a fun experiment.
