No method which uses only KH and pH readings will accurately determine the ppm of CO2 dissolved in typical planted aquarium water. The relationship of ppm of CO2 vs KH and pH is fixed only if there is nothing else in the water that affects the pH except CO2. And, typical planted tanks contain some tannic acid and/or other weak organic acids. When you use just the pH and KH readings to calculate the ppm of CO2 in the water you typically get a much too high number for the ppm of CO2.
