I'm contemplating starting up a 75 gallon tank but am torn by two options -- a discus/Amazon community tank and a barb/Asian community tank. I can only have one large tank, so having both is not an option.

My vision for the Amazon tank would be:
-blackwater with driftwood, big rocks and val at on one end with a long sand and leaflitter bed
-6 wildtype, captive-bred discus
-a large school of cardinals
-a medium school of hatchetfish
-a school of cories
-a pair of dwarf cichlids, either German blue rams or apistos

My vision for the Asian tank would be:
-blackwater with driftwood, big rocks and val at on one end with a long sand and leaflitter bed
-a lot of Java ferns and moss on the driftwood
-on red lotus plant
-a large school black ruby barbs
-a medium school of cherry barbs
-a smaller school of giant danios
-maybe a smaller school of another barb -- odessa, golden, Denison
-a school of khuli loaches
-a male paradise fish
-a pair or two of badis badis
-maybe a trio of swordtails or wildtype sailfin mollies (I know these are not Asian fish.)

I know these things are all a matter of personal preferences, but what would you choose? I'm just curious. Thanks!
