What do you guys use to clean up your regulator's surface if it is dirty?

Brasso will work for basic stuff, as will baking soda and water, especially for brass and chrome. For a polish like above, though, I'd guess a Dremel and polishing compound would be needed.

I was hoping there would be another way besides polishing it with an automotive cutting compound. Oh well. That's what I used to achieve these pictured results.

Most automotive compounds wash off pretty well, otherwise it would not work well on shiny car paints.
