I keep reading about mineralizing the soil and airing out the soil, what exactly is this? I can't find much info about actually doing it? Is it really needed? What risk is there from just setting up a tank with dirt/soil and putting fish in right away?

What it is/Why do it/How to do it
If I was going into competition and was building a tank to enter the Aquascaping contest...I might talk myself into doing this.
On the other hand I do design and build my own built-in bio-filters for my tanks so
I guess it just depends if and in what aria you have a notion to tinker/w.
I'd rather just use plain gravel which is inert and never needs replacing.
I think it takes longer than these mineralized top soils last to build a truely mature tank.
