So I am thinking about making the jump to dirt substrate. I have been doing the research on the forms. So I have started to dry and wet the dirt. I got to thinking, can i mix in some kitty liter with the dirt? Is there anybody that has tried this before? Is this just a bad idea? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I mixed calcined clay/Turface in my dirt.
Kitty litter can be a number of things.
I wouldn't.

You can use cat little if it is the non clumping unscented kind that is 100% clay you can. That ultra cheap stuff from walmart, special kitty, is good stuff. Some people use just the cat litter. Or you can use safe-t-sorb. Anything that is 100% fullers earth, Montmorillonite Clay.
