I left of vaction and am back, ready to start dosing again. I went to measure out the ferts and the digital scale I bought (from ebay) says it needs to be recalibrated. I need 200g to recalibrate it. Anyone have any idea what I can use to recalibrate it without having to buy an expensive weight?

1 penny is 2.5 grams so 80 pennies is 200 grams..
Just an idea.

You must find something small enough to fit on the scales and weigh 200 g exactly ,if you have access to another scales,weigh a couple of objects that total exactly 200 g then use it to recalibrate yours.

I think that if they had another scale it would be a problem.
Find something that has the weight listed on it and weigh

Thanks for all the help guys. I just talked to a friend of mine working in a lab and he said he'll take the scale into work tomorrow and recalibrate it using the weights he has there.

When you move a scale, doesn't that kill the calibration?

The first question you must ask yourself when purchasing any test weights is:
"Do I want to be able to calibrate my scale or simply verify that the scale is weighing accurately?"

Cents can vary in weight up to 0.2g or more. You would get a very "rough" 200g from 80 cents.

Nickels weigh right at 5 grams. Old nickels 4.9 grams due to wear. Or you could weigh a small container and add enough water to get to 200 grams. Water weighs 1 gram per cc.
