Hi all,

I have a flood of brown algae that is also has hair like, fuzzy and cobweb like appearance.
I wanted to confirm if they are diatoms or something else.

Removing them manually, making more water changes, Amano shrimp and Nerite snails seems to be helping.
They are growing quickly (returning) among the carpet plants and I am uprooting cleaning and replanting. Its painful.
Wanted to double check if these are diatoms or they are something else.

Did not get a reply on this thread

but these looked like diatoms.
A combination of the nerite snails and the Otos cleaned them up slowly but steadily.

A canister filter cleaning and maintenance also helped I guess. Plant growth has been not spectacular but not bad as well.
