hello,

I am wondering if anyone in europe has found somewhere to buy a diatom filter?? I have looked around but not found any, there is a german maker called "hobby" but they stopped production many many years ago.

People in the US: are the motors only 115V ? i ask as i have seen on US ebay a 220V diatom filter - no shipping to europe tho :icon_cry:

Sorry I can't tell you if Vortex puts out a 220 motor.

Do you have Marineland filters in Europe? If so, you can get a Micron filter cartridge for either the Magnum 350, or HOT (Hang On Tank) Magnum, and use DE powder with it.

hi thanks for the reply - found that i can order a 220v motor but at about$200 its expensive....

i m not too sure about the marineland filters ill check..

You could buy a transformer that converts 220 volts to 110V.,and order a regular diatom filter.

can't help you with diatom (diatomeen-) filter as you're right, it seems no one in Europe is still buying them therefore no one is still producing them.

Hi Nix,

thanks for the link - no i have never seen that, it might be worth a try... only thing i have to look at is that you have to make sure u have the edges tucked into the filter baskets or the water will tend to go round rather than thru the material.
