I read that including diamond black leonardite underneath eco-complete is a good sustrate for planted tanks. However, I also found someone who said they added liquid leonardite and has serious problems with brown water.

Is the Diamond Black they sell on amazon.com liquid or granular? On the one hand, they say that "Diamond Black is significant because it is the only granular leonardite that has been proven soluble during a single season." But on the bottle, it says "Liquid humic acids"

Will this stuff turn my tank water brown?

After doing some more research, I figured out that the Diamond Black product I was originally looking at is definitely a liquid.

But I can't find any granular diamond black anywhere online. Has anyone had luck finding any? All I was able to find was a pdf of the label for the granular version.

Have they stopped making it in this version?
I think this is the stuff, not sure tho

In case anybody else has the same question--I contacted the manufacturer and they have indeed discontinued the granular form of diamond black.

From what is sounds like, the liquid form heavily stains tank water.

I couldn't find any other granular leonardite in less than 50 lb bags, so I'm going with a thin layer of peat beneath the eco-complete.
