Hey all,

Was wondering if anyone could offer some help with my dhg.
I started up my 2g fluval spec again back in july and planted some dhg in it. It took off for the first month or two and then it just seemed to stop growing. I planted some close to the glass so I could watch the roots grow and they were spreading fast but now theyve seemed to stop and the plants are losing a little color. Any ideas? I havent changed dosing regiments. These are my specs...

Fluval 13w mini power compact lamp
.3mL excel a day
.3mL comprehensive every four days
Fluval shrimp stratum

Also...I havent changed the filter media since I bought the tank. Its really just my guinea pig tank as I learn. But could this be a reason for the stunted growth?

Help appreciated, happy new year!

Sounds like you need to start dosing more macro nutrients. Flourish comprehensive isn't really a good macro fertilizer (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium) source. Try going with some of the Seachem macro ferts or stick some root tabs into the substrate.

Do petsmart or petco normally sell the macro ferts? I went to look today but only found excel and comprehensive. Would I be better off looking In my lfs?

Yeah. Look for Seachem Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium.
