Dear Canadians,

The total area of Canada is 9 984 670 square kilometres. Maybe we could be a little more precise with our locations? Maybe add a province in there? Or a city?

Otherwise, I'm going to keep having to assume everyone is from Yukon Territory!. :eek5: Maybe, if I find out you are local, you can have my trimmings!

I am amazed at how Canadians can get internet in an igloo. Technology has come a long way.:icon_cool

I tell you... it's getting crazy. In the *gasp* building (concrete and steel construction ) where I work, they were forced to turn on the not yet complete central air because it was so hot it was becoming a safety concern.

Ironically, I believe our internet network is superior to the USA, likely because we have many less cities to cover. We are a bit more concentrated. I don't think I can even get dial up at my house. High speed, or super high speed it seems.
Dear Canadians,
you are awesome! I couldn't ask for better international neighbors. When you visit my country you are very respectful, friendly, and even helpful. Perhaps it's because I've only visited BC and your more podunk places like AB (Grande Prairie, woot woot) that I feel this way. I bet those wannabe frenchies snoot it up way too much, much like their european cousins, so I'm glad that my interactions with you all has been largely with people from the western provinces.

Unfortunately it only works when the beavers aren't chewing through the fibre optic cables. Eh... lol

JCGD...damn I wish I had read your post a few days ago.....I was there revisiting my youth (grew up in forest lawn) during the stampede...Just got back home to the wet west coast.

I married a Canadian. So my opinion of them is by necessity high.
I think they've got a complex though...always seem to feel duty bound to randomly provide me with a parade of reasons why I and my country suck. But whatevs. I stole their wimmin. :)
Jcgb! I wish I lived closer to you! I'd take some plant trimmings happily! So hard to find things in Toronto besides java fern, swords and the like! Hehe

Next time ask if the USA is so bad why are all there Canadian cites near the USA borders? I'd think if the USA was really so bad, they'd all live in Nunavut.

Eh??

BTW - I've only been there once and I thought everyone was pretty nice.

I razz Americans sometimes but it's all in good fun.
I like the USA, it's a mostly pretty country with plenty of nice people although like anywhere else, it's got it's share of jerks.

Canada is prettier and has fewer jerks though :)

And good point JCGD

I am a 'wannabe frenchie' and I find this comment really offensive and completely ignorant. Please keep your bigotry to yourself...

I married an american so I be stealin' the women back haha.

I have lived in the States for the last 6 years (from the midwest to the southwest to the east coast) so I feel that I have a good basis for a comparison between the two countries. I do agree that many canadians have a little brother complex where they feel the need to separate themselves from the shadow of the states. And often times it involves emphasizing the negatives. The two places are very similar in most aspects though, I have been all over the states and just like in Canada, there are some nice people and some total twats.

Really the only significant difference in my daily life comes down to health care. I am not bringing this up to start a debate on the merits of the free helath care, i just mention that that is really the only major difference that I have experienced in my time in the states.

Also, the belief that canada has better beer than the states is totally false (this may be a better debate than health care haha)...there are so many awesome micro brews in the states.

just my two cents :)

Thanks, we try to be friendly. It's just 'cause we are too lazy to work at being angry. Takes too much effort.

Oh, too bad. You could've checked out the tank, or do a plant swap!

Free health care... "keep a girl bangin' with a full mouth of teeth"! Can't blame you for stealing. I don't have anything against the USA myself. The only thing stopping me from living in the US is the border. Same stuff, different country.

Jcgb! I wish I lived closer to you! I'd take some plant trimmings happily! So hard to find things in Toronto besides java fern, swords and the like! Hehe
I'm willing to ship, no problem. As soon as this tank grows out I'll start selling trims.

Same stuff, less people, somewhat different landscape. Further north really is colder, so we hug the border.

I agree with you Tharsis, but Quebec is a weirdo. When I was in the Dominican we would all get asked which Country we were from. "Canada!" "USA!" "Mexico" "Quebec!!!"

I've always figured there wasn't much difference between the two. The accents (southerners have crazy thick accents even though we sound hilarious), the sheer amount of people/ sizes of cities... and of course health care. I can't say which is better because I've only ever had it. But it must suck to get messed up in the US if you aren't insured. I can't imagine having to worry about it.

Anyway, fellow Canadians... let us see some locations!

LOL! I think it was Robin Williams that described Canada as a loft apartment over a really great party. We're all close to listen and make sure the party doesn't get noisy.

I know, my Canadian trip was to Shefferville, well and hour NW of there by Otter.

I wanted to go to Nunavut a few years ago, went to South Africa instead, didn't need a coat.

Honestly jcgd, to address a serious question frequently asked online by big city Canadians (lol - that's an oxymoron!). For many Canadians there is real life humor in "yer from Canada. You know Salami Susan from Canada, don't cha?" Often if they have been to the area the answer is, yeah, I do...

Putting a location and name online is pretty silly if you are unique in a sparsely populated million or more square kilometer area. Not quite like blending in from Vancouver or Toronto. It could be kind of like using your full address in some cases. Canada's fine, if we're friends you'll know how to find us.
By the way, Beavers are the reason for satelite internet and igloos are a great design for solar power. Kidding.
I'm more surprised to see that Canada has more than 5 people that can read?!

I'm kidding of course. I'm from South Dakota. We still live in tipis(teepee for you silly city folk) and marry our cousins.

Ha, Ha, ha! I've heard that family reunions are a good place to pick up chicks.

Really good. I went to Vancouver for Canada day long and it's been hot ever since it got back! Mild winter this year... Scorcher of a summer so far.
