The Kompact needs moderate lighting and co2 injections to do well. If money is an issue(which it has been for me too), I recommend getting an "under cabinet light" from home depot or lowes and one of their plant t8 plant bulbs or something close to that. I've done that with two tanks. It will cost less then 20 bucks. That way you can have your 4200k plus a 6700k or whatever you choose.
