So i just recently put some sand in my tank and wasn't thinking when i hooked my ZooMED canister filter back up. the sand was sucked up into the filter and now my filter won't work. Is there any way to fix the filter without replacing it totally and what are some recomendations to prevent this from happening again???

Did you clean out the impeller? Sometimes the sand causes it to stick, take it apart and check. Just don't stir up the sand while the filter is on and you should be alright. You can also use a pre filter sponge if you really wanted to

Can you see the impeller? Sometimes when my aquaclears get stuck I just use a pencil to move the propeller and it frees it.
