I went to my LFS today and bought 10 painted glass fish. Went home and i suddenly remembered these guys were injected with dyed at some point. I already knew this many years ago but i had a brain fart...honest to God! Theyre drip acclimating for about an hr now. How hardy are painted glass fish?

They should be fine. Their whole existence is highly unethical and they tend to have health issues and shortened lifespans but otherwise they are normal fish, just dyed.

Cool. Im kicking myself for making such stupid mistake. Hope they last at least a year or two in my tank. Thanks!

I had a "fruit tetra" last for a solid 3 years as a kid.

Be on the lookout for sepsis and bacterial infections. Feed them good foods like frozen or live, and they should bounce back pretty well. My tetra got TetraMin Flakes and a 100% water change every 4 months or so.

I was like 8 and didn't know any better. Somehow the fish always survived pretty well...

If any die, make sure you take them back for a refund. The store should bear the cost of selling fish they've weakened like that.

I'd love to get a refund but you see the owner is pretty shady himself. I swear a slithering snake looks more human than the POS.
