Had been meaning to ask this question, but totally forgot until I saw dreamer_yoyo's post.

Photo & shrimp is of dreamer_yoyo's stock. Only circled the image to show clearly what I am talking about.

I noticed a few of my Purelines have that too. Had it since birth, they are all adults now. Doesn't seem to "spread" and I don't think it's a disease. Is this normal?

I like em, just wondering if it's something to be alarmed about :)

I believe some PRL have a shade of black/darker red just naturally (perhaps partially expressed CBS gene?? just my wild guess), no disease/infection involved, although there is actually a type of infection that show up as small dark spots on the shell of CRS, think its some kind of bacteria that decomposes shrimp shells and can be tricky to cure.

Yeah I am familiar with the "black spot disease" I believe it is called. Don't think mine had that since the 3-4 that I had that was like that since they are about this tiny --- and now they are fully grown, healthy and just fully solid. Too bad my cell phone camera has issues otherwise I could try to take a snap. Usually too blurry anyways. One day I'll need a cheap Macro lens camera :)

Anyhow, I too experience some of those babies. About this small ---, their red looks deep red, almost black looking, and as they get older, it gets lighter and that is when I can tell it's red. At one point I thought I was in trouble. How could my Pureline CRS pop out CBS? Lol.

Colors play tricks when young. I thought my pbl gave me red offspring, but as it aged it became black. Was a black brown I am guessing when born, then with the light shinning on it made it look red. Nope all pbl

Damn predicta txt! New phone is great, but still learning on it.

The spots from birth is different than if suddenly they start to have dark spots right? Wanna know so I can spot a problem if it arises :)
