I own a betta fish, and I recently heard that you can use houseplants in an aquarium. Like where you put the roots in. And people have specifically mentioned mint and pothos and sweet potato. And I was curious if you could do this with a dandelion. They're pretty hardy little buggers, so I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them.

I'm fascinated by this because betta fish like pretty planted tanks, because it makes them feel safe. Or so I've heard.

Dandelion is a plant that thrives in full sun. I do not think it would be bright enough indoors to keep it alive.

That's a good point :|. I bet there other common yard plants that would work though. Didn't think of the light requirement.

You're taking about keeping plants riparium style-roots in water, leaves above. I've not tried dandelions but here is a link with mine and other members successes with riparium style plants.
