So in a couple of weeks I will be setting up my new planted tank. A 54 g corner bowfront. I have a fluval 304 I think or 303 canister filter that is running on my 30g tank right now and will have been running for a good 3 or 4 weeks by the time it goes on the 54g. My question is, do you expect to have a large cycle spike of ammonia and nitrites when the tank is set up? I will have eco complete gravel, the filter that is seeded, plus all the plants from the 30g (packed full of wisteria, java fern and hygro) as well as some african wood that has been soaking for 3 weeks now. Do you think it will be safe to put a few of my fish into the tank right away? Will adding carbon to my filter to help with the tannins affect my cycle at all??

Thanks. kara

That you have seeded the filter will help but at some point a small spike can be overcome with a couple of additional water changes. Man thing is packing with fast growers so they help tank the additional ammonia ect.

You should be fine to add fish quickly but how many fish are we talking about?

Not a ton. Just moving my fish from my 30 gallon that is busting at the seams since the kribensis fry are taking up soooo much room.

Eventually I would like to have white clouds, danios, a pair of kribs, and maybe some shrimp if the kribs leave them alone. I have all but the danios (i have 3) and white clouds.
