As the title suggests, I just bought the Current USA Orbit Marine LED light for my 75 gallon tank. I got the 48-60 inch version and my tank is 48 inches wide, so it fits perfectly over the whole thing. I love the setup and the look of it, but upon further investigation I am nervous that it will not do well on a planted tank since it is made for a SW tank.

I am a complete newbie, so I'm just looking for some words of wisdom on this. Is it really worth uninstalling, sending back, and getting a new one?

Hello, personally i would send it back and get the Current USA Satellite+ Pro instead for example.

Coming in four flavors — 8,000K, 12,000K, 445nm with UV and 460nm blue

Which one?
I assume either the 8000 or 12000k one..

it's got a lot of different bandwidths..so that's good..
Plants will adapt...


Main thing is really the "look" some like it, some don't.
BUT you have a lot of range here..


Biggest problem is it's slightly under-powered for a 75gal tank..

Thanks for your input! I went ahead and began the return process. Hopefully I can get a better light soon. Do you reccomend the Saellite Plus Pro, or do you have other suggestions?

Besides being a "color change" the plus pro is stronger in that size class..
4013 48"-60" 46.8” x 3.5” x 0.44” 60 Watts
vs
4103 48" - 60" 46.8 x 3.5 x 0.44 46 Watts

30% stronger..
For those splitting hairs.. the PUR of both probably would be about equal..

But I digress...

75gal are deep and wide...so they are a bit tricky depending on needs..

First question, are you recommending putting both of those lights on my tank. If not, which one is your prefernece?

Also, would you recommend these over getting a Current USA Plus PRO LED or Finnex+ 24/7?
