for the first time, i left a piece of blanched cucumber rubber-banded to a rock in the tank...

my questions are
(1) how long can i leave it in for?

(2) how long does it take for the otto to 'understand' that its food... mine just tends to stay away...

Leave it in for 24hours.
I dont know how long it would take for it to realise it's food. Maybe after a couple trys and it gets hungry.

My ottos always totally ignored any cucumber or green veg I put in my tank. Either there was plenty of algae for them or they just didn't like it. Check out your ottos bellies. If they are eating lots of algae they will look kinda rounded and fat.

Come to think of it, they totally ignored any algae wafers I put in there as well, even the expensive Hikari ones!

itz been there for a bout 4 hrs now and i'm pretty sure he has touched it... and by looking at its belly, it isnt a 'pot belly'

sighs... this is 2.5G and i dun think there would really be enough algae going around for it to eat... all i can observe is that he 'actively' cleans around all the time =(

help anyone, any suggestions?
