Are Dwarf Gourami''s compatible (in a 5 gallon long, planted) with cherry shrimp?

Dwarf Gourami are pretty active and should be in more then 5 gallons. Mine use to hunt shrimp in my 20 gallon so it depends on yours personality.
I actually put blue down tonight after 3 years. Had some big tumer on side of his head i think it might have been dwarf gorami disease which is very common with them.
