In my 20H I have two T5s with 14 watts each, I dose excel every week and no co2. My substrate is organic potting mix with root tabs. My crypt leaves just lay flat on the substrate? Whats wrong? Is it too much ferts in the soil? Im really confused.

I'm going to change out one of the 14w daylight bulbs for a 14w colormax bulb and see how that goes.

I just yanked them out to look at the roots, so they wont be as flat but one second.

Don't pay attention to the other plants lol, there in bad shape cause they are new and came that way.

not sure if that has anything to do with them lying flat like that, but you've got them planted too deep. pull them up until to the point where the leaf stems meet.

Pull them up to the crown. Also, they are just young plants, and the older leaves are likely emersed growth. This is just "where" they grow.

I think they just need to grow as above poster said. I would try not to disturb them too much and just let them grow.

They are plantlets off of my larger crypts, they stood up normally in that tank. Now this.

Crypts will melt with almost any change made in the tank, new plantings, moved, these are all reason for Crypt rot or melt, just let them be and they should come back.

One other point, Excel is a hospital grade disinfectant that is diluted, so use it sparingly.

I think you could easily overdose Excel with Crypts, they react to the slightest changes in the water, so take it easy on the Excel. This is mostly a guess and not fact but it makes good common sense.

Hmm, yeah i didnt kinda go crazy with the excel to get my stems going lol. Not gonna lie.

They seem healthy to me. Do what was stated before. The rhizomes should not be buried so deep.
