So I have a bunch of Crypt Wendtii and lately the roots have been growing upwards out of the substrate like grass. It's a bit weird and also unattractive.
Is this a spreading technique or something else like a deficiency?

I have roughly 10 Crypt Wendtii planted in a dirt/gravel cap and none have exposed roots. If you're not using dirt or root tabs, it may very well be a nutrient deficiency.

Hi chris_ranger,

This is totally normal for a healthy, well established C. wendtii. Usually when I see that it isn't long before I also see plants sprouting up from sub-surface runners.
