Crushed lava rock?

Does anyone know if red lava rock will help plants as far as iron supplemention goes? I have lots of this stuff and I was wondering if I crushed it up and sprinkled it around my tank esp. near my anubias if it would supply the needed iron. it looks like this

I'm dosing Flourish but it seems my anubias (1 in particular) has yellowing of the leaves. also part of the rhizome is softening and turning brown.

no the rhizome is not buried.
