There was a thread about this tank, but dont know where, anyways like i said before it looks ugly lol, how do you change water?
that is one very interesting tank... would love to see how that all works

it's simple, really. the top is sealed and excess air kept pumped out.
this allow the water volume to replace air volume you'd expect to see.
the higher you go, the stronger the pump must be. if the pump goes
off, the water will stay up as long as you don't keep pumping new
air from below to displace the water already in the column. that blue
box is a self contained pond pump/filter that's doing all the suction.

Yes- but HOW to pump out the excess air? Especially with an airstone constantly putting more bubbles up there....
so the pump is constantly running... And there wouldn't be any gas exchange in the top tank.

top end, the liquid will stay in the straw unless
you release your finger or lift the straw high
enough for air to get in from the bottom, so

You got it Spynet, the mechanics are so simple. A shared electric supply for the aerator and pump and no trouble at all.

This tank is ugly, looks like the builder was carried away by the mechanical idea and did not pay attention to aesthetics.

Imagine an 250-500G aquarium with a wide column with screw vals and on one side and a cascading water falls on rear and corner on the other with anubias growing emersed over the rocks, the bottom tank well planted. A well stocked community with lots of schooling fishes. MY! I wish I had the space and the dough for it.
I wonder how the fish feel when they swim up towards the top. Somebody make me a human sized tank so I can swim up there an see how it feels!
