Hey every one! Im pretty excited, super super excited!:)

Setting up a 5.5g bare bottom, java moss, CPD breeding tank.

Did i mention i was super excited!?

Ok so a few questions.
I had a sponge filter seeding for 1.5-2 months in an established 15g tank.
I just dont know how these sponge filters work, its from ebay with two sponges on each side connected to a tub in the middle. I set it up with an air pump. So my understanding is that air bubbles flow out from the tube, as the water leaves the tub new water fills it up and this is how the filter works. Am i correct?

Also any foods you guys recommend? i will research on my own, just wondering if you guys know anything works.
I have to look up how to sex the fish, i have 8 in the 15g. just wanted to get everything in place before i got too excited about the breeding.

will post pictures later after i come home from school. Keep posted!

Also any tips on cpd breeding, or any fish breeding? its my first attempt, i hope i am succesful!

I dont know much about CPD's but with most tetras and rasboras, its ideal to have a lower ph (6-6.5) and water hardness, and they usually start breeding early in the morning or after a water change.

Also, please keep us posted with how you go about doing it and how it goes, im very interested! Subscribed.
Thanks for the tip salty, I've actually been there and checked it out. Just wondered if anyone here had any other tips , trying to get a sort of larger knowledge base thing going

I read some about breeding boraras brigittae, and one thing that was helpful with those fish was to transfer a piece of seasoned driftwood from an established tank to the breeder tank. It was thought the fry feed off the slime and perhaps micro-organisms on the driftwood in the earliest stages. A little different habitat than CPDs but it might not be a bad idea to try if you have it available.

Yeah that actually does sound like a good idea, the only piece of DW I have is way too big. I actually have another smaller piece but is for ny nano shrimp tank.

So I picked out 1 beautiful male and 3 females last night. At least I hope I picked correctly. One of the females I picked out seemed younger, I'm guessing. I only had 2 bbig females.

I fed micro pellets this morning. Tomorrow I plan on feeding frozen blood worms, I think I will keep feeding frozen blood worms for the majority of the 7 days I plan on keeping them in the tank. Unless I can get to an LFS this weekend.

I'll try to get pics up when I get home from work !
