Hi all i would like to find out what are some tank mates that can go with parrot fishes. Thank you.

I would say not any fish that are slow and like hiding as my nephew has one with a blue gourami and a black ghost knight fish which he bought a tube for the bgkf and the parrot kicked him out of the tube and he now owns the tube... The gourami comes to the rescue of the bgkf when the parrot chases him around.

Parrot fish are hybrid cichlids so you would really be limited to a medium to large cichlid tank (central and south americans would probably be good choices). You could check into some of the acaras (I've had blues and they were very pretty), severums, keyholes etc. You could also do some larger tankmates like plecos or syndontis catfish for companions. You're probably not going to have any luck with plants because the larger cichlids like to dig. They'll also eat anything that will fit in their mouths so you'll be severely limiting your community/companion fish options.

I need tankmates that swim in the water colume mid and top. The parrot's like to hide in a castle they have in there. As for plants it all plastic so i don't have to worry about them uprooting them. Thanks.
