My 180 gallon tank already has a wet dry filter which works great and easy to clean. Is it possible to hook up a Co2 unit to the tank that will make up for the lose of Co2 with the filter?

I simply put a DIY reactor on the return hose from the sump's pump to inject my CO2.

Seal up the top of the wet dry part, keep the water level as high as is safe in the sump and cover up the overflow box and you are good to go. If the CO2 cannot escape because exits are pretty well sealed then it will just diffuse back into the water.
