I've been lurking around e bay deciding which regulator I want to buy and have been noticing regulators with 'magnetic valves'. Is that something I need to stay away from or would it still work, or do I need one that specifically has a needle valve, or is it the same thing?

You want a gas regulator, ss diaphragm, low pressure gauge between 0-200. If you can find one with 0-100 that's even better. Stay away from acetylene and corrosive gases regulators. If the corrosive gas regulator is new, then it's fine.

Chances are you won't find one with a needle valve on it, and if you do it won't be the kind we need. Dual stage regulators have a bump in the back, single stage are usually flat.

You'll also need a cga inlet and nut. The cga code will tell you what gas the regulator was made for. You can change out most of them for a co2 inlet/nut which is cga 320.

"Magnetic valve" = "Solenoid valve", which is what lets you turn the CO2 on and off with a timer or pH controller.

You absolutely need to add a good needle valve, solenoid is optional, but highly recommended by yours truly.

I'm prolly going to buy one that already has a needle valve, but I don't know how to tell if it's any good lol. Definitely gettin a solenoid to make my life easier
