CO2 press reg fine adjust problem, bps rate drops ???

1892 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Murazaki
Hello Guys,
i have a Macromatic pressure regulator on my CO2 with Magnetic valve...
cant hold the 4bps i want? with out adjusting pressure??

started setting it up for about 4bps in the morning before lights go on
the gauge says 0,9bar pressure after a while the bps rate drops more, more and more... i have to raise the pressure to 1,2 bar to get to my 4bps and again after that i have to raise it to 1,5bar to keep 4bps till the light period is over and magnetic switch shuts off..
i was thinking ok we leave it at 1,5bar and on the next days should be ok?!
BUT on the next days the valve opens up and the slowly the bps rate raises till constant gas flow 6+bps.. and to get back to my 4bps i have to go back to 0,9bar..
The whole game is repeating once again day by day.. 0,9 bar / 1,2bar and 1,5bar next day toooo much and i have to drop to 0,9bar?????

Thank you for your time =)

Am I understanding correctly that you are not using a needle valve? Magnetic valve = solenoid?

Hello
thank you im pretty new to Co2
only have this magnetic valve solenoid in-line

What needle valve are you use? That solenoid is fine, it's just turn on or off the Co2, it doesn't actually control how much Co2 is let out.

Include the picture of the needle valve or the entire set up, I'm thinking you're using an inline needle valve too?
I'd like to recommend having a read here: http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/showthread.php?t=107312

Particularly see #3 about needle valves. That is what you need to make fine adjustments and will let you raise your working pressure to whatever is needed to make it stable.

Edit: Or maybe flyinghellfish is correct about an inline nv.

Dont have a needle valve on my system.. now found the problem =)
ok since i had the fluval 88g before my thinking was that i can adjust from the main regulator...

so i just add a needle valve like this one and everything should be stable
