Co2 overdose!!!!

I just setup pressurized co2... barely cracked the regulator so it had a reading and saw some microbubbles coming out (i have a rex griggs style reactor) which i thought was fine because i already had these with my diy co2...

15 mins later i walk by and everything is gasping for air at the top...

they have all been relocated into 10g tanks

not good... i have a medium stocked 10g now holding an additional angelfish and bolivian ram and a 10g now holding 3 bolivian rams and 1 gold ram

how long till tank degasses? i have my bubbler going full speed ive disconnected the co2 and turned off the filter to stop the reactor from pumping in my diffused co2

any ideas on what i should do!?! :help::help::help::help::help::icon_sad:

Might be a silly question, but do you have a needle valve and bubble counter?
i would leave the filter on but place it so it would splash or make more surface agitation. dont think i would take more than 10-15 min to offgas (with good surface agitation) no more than a half hr max. i would only turn up your bubble rate one bubble at a time and wait 30min befor you increase if needed. whats your bps and tank size?
Same thing happed to me this morning; my otos were laying on the gravel gasping and the mts were trying to get above the water. I stopped the co2 and pulled the spray bar up so it was splashing down in the water. Everything came back to life in about 4 hours.

I dont think I'll be able to do co2 again, which is frustrating because I just perfected my diy yeast system and reactor.

i don't have a needle valve,

i got a nipple that would fit into my hose and went with that

i guess i will try to create some form of bubble counter real quick

i have fixed the spraybar as directed
diy isnt really able to be regulated on bps so if you create a huge bottle all at once it can create to much at once thats why its better to do less and get a small increase so you have wiggle room when it ramps up to full production. more of a pita imo most of us have been there over time you like ill just go full on.

You'll need a needle valve to adjust your rate of CO2 flow low enough so it doesn't gas off your fish again.

Yah, I know I can pour up a pitcher of beer in a few moments at 10 PSI, and that is a liquid through 1/4" tubing. You are dumping a lot of CO2.

uhm... totaly un related

i just created a bubble counter im at about 3 bps now... i think ima push it to 4 and settle on what my drop checker says in an hour then adjust from their

o ok... i thought you just kinda ranted off about diy like ive had done to me on other posts un related to diy co2

i didnt see him ask a question so i didnt know why someone would bring up diy co2 stability

i understand now though
all good if you can get a ideal nv then do it its worth it im very pleased with mine. can go from a bubble every 1-2 min or whatever flow rate you will need depending on what ur using it for.
adjust over the course of a few days. Your fish will thank you.
