CO2 Equipment advice.

Im in the market for a CO2 setup. The most im willing to spend is $300 for everything. I have been looking at the already made set ups as well as the parts to make my own. Ive seen one from GLA that looks to be a good option with ~90% positive reviews which is my front runner. In an attempt to find something cheaper or better value, I have been looking on [Ebay Link Removed] With so many brands its hard to decide what to choose from. The price differences are so broad and of course everyone has varying opinions about everything.

I guess what im asking is, Is GLA a good company to buy from for a beginner and if not, what brands should I keep an eye out for when it comes to regulators, needle valves, and solenoids?

I have heard nothing but good things about GLA.
GLA is just fine but you may go a little over your $300 dollar budget once you factor in a diffuser/s, drop checker & solution, other co2 stuffs. I know I did. I got a gla-gro1, atomic inline diffuser, a local 5# co2 tank, drop checker/solution and it cost more around $350+ give or take shipping. No complaints on end my end.

Don't forget you'll need a timer as well.
i love my gla gro series regulator ..

GLA is an excellent retailer. But, yes, you'll spend a good $100 more than their $200 basic price when it's all said and done. And for a beginner, that's a good place and price to start at. It's incredibly tough to spend much less than that before you really know what you're doing.

In other words, before you've actually played around with any of this stuff, if you want to spend $200 on everything (which is definitely possible), you should budget $400. It will very likely take you that much extra cash to be able to spend intelligently in the first place.
For some reason I always see people spending WAY too much money on CO2 equpiement. You can setup an entire pressurized co2 system from the co2 tank to the diffuser for well under $100.

Find a used Aquatek regulator for $40
Get a used 5-10lb tank for $40
Co2 tubing, check valves, bubble counter and diffuser from china for like $11 for everything...

Bam, $91 for an entire Co2 setup that does just as good as a $500+ setup.

You're probably right about the cost differences. Can't say I've heard anything good about cheap Chinese diffusers though.
I just got my GLA pro last week and I ordered it for 2 reasons. 1 reason I didn't want it to break and it has to be able to run while I'm on vacation for 3 weeks. 2, I've always had phobias of machines an equipment. When I was a kid I was afraid of the toaster and the oven. Then when I was older I was afraid of everything in the wood working shop at school. I had a lot of anxiety turning on that regulator for the first time. But The GLA needle valve is so good I won't have to play with it until the tank is almost empty.
Yes but it takes allot of time to find used things.

Not a problem for people who have more time than money

Lol it's a problem for me since I'm"feenin" But I've been asking around on fb and on forums with no luck. I have one made for draft beer I didn't use because I want one meant for an aquarium.
