Just wondering if anyone knows a good place order 2" clear pvc pipe from?

Also on Co2 reactors has anyone worked out a good length for them? I'm thinking of building a pair of them. I want make them 3.5' high for ease of mounting them behind the tanks. Would that be too high?

I want to power them kent marine 1/2 TURBO VENTURI valves driven by mag5's in a closed loop. This could be way to much pump.:D But seems like the best way to have a venturi reactor and a closed loop. And no they won't be cheaper than store bought.

The clear PVC will just confirm what you already know. If there's air in them you'll hear it and in time the bio-film will build up inside. JMO

Just hoping to cut out the need for a bubble counter on the co2, but yeah if I go clear would need to add a unions to the build. Aquatic Eco-systems has all of what I want and then some. Now I just have to fiqure out how to order it so Ups doesn't bring 5' long tubes to my apartment, the little old ladies already think I'm up to something.

I looked at building my two 24" reactors from clear but couldn't justify the added cost. I'm not a cheapskate either. lol

Not sure how well it will work as a bubble counter with the flow inside the chamber.

For this same issue I've used the wide tube from a siphon gravel vacuum. The hose connector might be glued on but can usually be removed with a strong twist. If you can find pvc that fits the tube you can glue it with standard pvc cement, at least it worked when I tried it. It fused the pieces together just fine so the plastic must be of a similar composition. I've never had any leaking from it either.

I too wanted to monitor the CO2 visually in the reactor.

Size was mostly for ease of mounting and to handle the pumps gph. But looking into pumps I see I can smaller mag pumps with venturi and needlewheel build in so I'll cut them down to 24" and just get parts from Home Depot. That should cut the cost down, except for the pumps.

I made a much modified reactor like that, using some smaller diameter clear PVC in the CO2 inlet area to serve as a built-in bubble counter. It was useless. Bubble counters only work if the very small diameter CO2 line releases the CO2 directly into the clear container, with nothing to interfere with the rising stream of bubbles. Otherwise the bubbles coalesce into giant bubbles, and other people's 3 bbs is 1 bubble every 5 seconds for you. Then the clear part of the reactor itself was always just a mass of roiling CO2 bubbles swirling all over the place, so it wasn't possible to do anything but see that the water had something in it. If I ever make another one, and I don't expect to, it will be white PVC, as simple as it is possible to make it.
