And how do you know what you need for gph?
I am thinking about putting a circulation pump in my tanks from now on. I use HOB filters that are set up just slightly off center, and I worry about dead spots in the tank. I don't have the funds to get any before I fill the two 29g tanks I'm in the process of setting up, but I can add them in a month.
How do I determine what size to get? The gph rates mean nothing to me - I can't visualize the flow rate, never having seen one of these in person before. I only want a gentle flow directing water towards the HOB intake - not a strong current. At my local Petsmart the lowest gph is 500. I've seen nano tank pumps on That Pet Place that have a gph as little as 240 and up.
I'm going to run the tanks a while first- I may not even need these for a tank as small as a 29...maybe I'll wait & try them on the 55s.
any opinions are welcome!
