Okay, some I'm planning to make a tree stump "Iwagumi" like scape, and I have several questions...

1.) How many watts of light (high lighting) do I need and what type? http://www.thekrib.com/Plants/Tech/Lighting/ I got confused lol

2.) What is a good acidic buffering substrate that is not an ADA product?

1. the wpg rule doesn't really work. It depends of the light bulb you'll use. I have 2 15W t-8 bulbs over my 10G and that's a low light/low tech tank. Your plant selection will need something a little higher.

2. It's best not to use buffers/chemicals to control your params. Put a driftwood in your tank and mix in RO water to get the desired PH, GH, KH.

and 6 oto is too much for a 10G. Go for 3.

I'm not using any chemicals, so I do want a naturally acidic substrate mixed with Eco-complete to lower my Ph with driftwood, peat, and hopefully a substrate...

go for a neutral substrate like flourite. The driftwood will take care of your pH.

CPD'S will not be happy in an iwagumi layout, i've looked into it because i wanted to get some. they prefer hiding spots
