Im in the process of gathering some gear to setup my old reef tank as a planted tank, it measures 70cm wide, 60cm high and 120cm long.

I see that I have two options for the lighting.
First would be 2x 150w metal halides.
Second 4x4' T5 Tubes.

The T5's would give a better coverage but i think the halides a deeper penetration which would be nice for the ground cover plants.

Any input you guys can give would be great.

I'm a huge advocate for Tek T-5's. Best bang for your buck by far, i am very pleased with mine.

I just got the T5's in a 6 pack and I am thrilled with the coverage. I have a 24 inch wide and I can tell you it was worth the extra investment. 72x24 and 29 inches deep

I only had one set up and it covers 3/4 of the tank with light. Can't wait to see the difference when my husband mounts them today
