Cheap way to hold light above tank?

You can also make those hanging brackets with PVC if your light isn't terribly heavy. Looks somewhat odd if your house is a well decorated, tasteful house.

But if you're a "transmission sitting on the kitchen table" sort of ******* like most of my fellow plant tank keepers, it fits right in. Just spray it black.

Conduit pipe, pipe bender, chains, brackets, screws. Take the pipe bender back, and it's like $10 including spray paint. They look very elegant and work extremely well!

how do you mount them to the tank? What are the ones I see ada tanks called? I do like the cost and effectiveness of the conduit but I do not know how to mount it to the back of the tank? Any help is greatly appreciated.

You should mount them to the back of your stand.

You can either buy metal band "C" clips that wrap halfway around the pipe, and you shoot screws through the clip to hold the pipe on, or you can just shoot screws directly through the pipe (pre-drill the pipe and then use wood screws to go into the stand).

Well the screw option may or may not work the tank sit on top of my wife's bookshelf so is there any other ways. I still would like to know what the light "holders" are called on the sides of the tank that I see on peoples tanks. I do like the concept of the pipe is there a clamp out there that can hold it on to the rim of the tank?
