I looked on Craigslist but there is nothing special in my area. Everything is just supply's no tanks.

Does anyone know if the $1 a gallon deal will go on at petsmart some time soon? maybe as a new years blowout?

150 dollor budget for the tank seems like enough money. local place near me sells 45 gallon for 129. check around some places have used ones no one wants. the fish farm around my house has like two 50 or 40 gallons laying there and they,ll give them for like 20, 30 dollors. they do need some cleaning how ever. :p

Patience is the key. Having cash on the right day is next

Wadesharp, I'm very similar location to you. Im in the ann arbor area.
In Michigan there are several Craig's lists and lots of tanks posted to all of them. Just not all today or all at prices you might want to pay. A budget of $150.00 should get you an entire setup, less CO2. I know it can be done. I picked up an entire 40L setup for $50.00 once. Right day, right cash in hand.

Use the search feature to search the entire "for sale" listing. Many aquariums end up in the furniture section. Search for aquarium, tank, and T5 while you are at it.

A couple of other sites for you to check out in Michigan.

Michigan Aquatic Plant Group

Mitten State Cichlids

Michigan Reefers

Cichlid and Reef keepers for sale forums are always active (over time) as people upgrade, leave the hobby, or pass on leaving a mess for the spouse to find someone to help with cleaning up.
