So Ive seen some people talking about using this Poly-fil polyester fabric junk for filter floss. You can pick it up at fabric stores like Jo-Anns or even at Walmart. Anyone ever use it that can attest to being a good idea? I like using DIY filtering components because I think it saves more money than anything else since I replace my mechanical filters religiously.

There are two types. One is bulk fluff, the other is a sheet but isn't quilt batting. (which should work fine too) The sheets are easier to cut to fit for cartridge filters.

I still use the stuff from Marineland. It holds up well to multiple high pressure cleanings that don't take very long. Two squares in each of the XP3's should last a year and never releases any stray fibers into the tank.
