I just wanted to give a heads-up to anyone in the Grand Rapids area. There is a hydroponics store on West River that charges only about $8.00 to exchange a 20lb CO2 tank for a full one. I did end up paying $200 for a tank deposit, but after having exchanged the tanks about 30 times over the last 5 years or so, its paid for itself.

They are nice aluminum tanks as well!

That's insane. I wonder if MN has something like that too. =D For now, most of us use welding, gas, and brewing businesses for our refills.
Try checking local hydroponics stores. Mine stocks a lot of great supplies that work just as well for tanks. I got really nice individual T5HO lights for 1/4 of the price of "fish tank" lights. Cheap bulbs too.

Do you think they will swap with any tank or do you need to have a deposit with them? I ended getting my initial one at a home brewing supply (O'Connors) for about 110 filled. Then I was looking at swapping with praxair ($13), but West River is an easier drive on top of being slightly cheaper.

I think as long as its a 20lb aluminum tank. They've given me practically brand new tanks every swap.

Bump:
