I just received my Catappa Leaves and I want to use them in my 75 gallon OEBT/RCS tank.
I run purigen in this tank. I know purigen removes all the tannins from the water. One of the benefits from the Catappa leaves comes from the tannins from what I've read. What I don't know is if ALL the benefits of the leaves come from the tannins. Will the leaves do anything to the water that purigen won't effect? (pH?)
Will I still benefit from the leaves if I keep running Purigen?

If you have a lot of leaves in a 75g tank the purigen will be quickly used up. I would take the purigen out and just do water changes weekly - simplicity is best in my opinion for shrimp tanks, if it doesn't exist in nature (aka purigen), dont use it!

You should also look into using alder cones in your tanks, using those and the IAL seems to have raised my baby survival rate up to about 80% in my new tank.
