Caridina Shrimp Advice

So I'm going to start my first Caridina tank. Was wondering if this setup will work.

Getting a RO System and doing a 50/50 with my tap water. My tap is incredibly hard 8ph+.

For substrate, I'm thinking inert which means no buffering capacity.

It's colder here so will have no problem keeping the tank at the right temperature.

Will be using a sponge filter.

Will have a carpet of java moss.

Will this set up work?

What you need is to try to get as closed as possible to their best environment that people have been succeeded in the last few years.

These are the numbers you should shoot for:

PH=6-6.8
TDS=130-150
GH=4-5
KH=0-1
Temp=68-74

Hope it'll help.

my tap water is pretty hard too. i tried mixing with RO, and for some reason my cherry shrimp still got owned :(
Idk about the whole glass bare bottom. Ask around and through my trial and error it may work in the beginning but you will be finding yourself siphoning the bottom pretty often. Substrate like most people will say is a ph buffer

Was thinking an inert substrate so not bare bottom. Does anyone have advice on one thats cheap? Or one thats good for buffer low ph thats cheap? Will a sponge filter or a filter with a shrimp guard on it be better?
Heard of people using the fluval stuff and others. My advice buy a bag,of ADA Amazonia and never look back. Its 30$ a bag and will make your tank awesome! If,it saves 2 shrimp You paid for it.
