I would say yes, no*. In that order.

You "can" but it in your filter. I wouldn't. It will initially pull out some of your micros but becomes saturated fairly quickly by other organic goblegook that adsorbs onto the surface.

Basically a waste of time and I wouldn't generally recommend it unless removing medications.

Was about to write up a whole thing saying why carbon doesn't actually work, but figured someone else has probably already done it.

If its already in your filter though don't feel like you need to chuck it. Still has good surface area and works fine for bio media.
